Welcome to the Red Deer Readers, a group of people united by a love of books, and divided only by our opinions.
Each month we share our thoughts and feelings about a book we've read. Occasionally we agree, but it's much more fun when we have different opinions.
Whether it's a novel, a biography, poetry, history or something hard to categorise, we'll read it and everyone will have an opinion.
In September we began our experiment, pairing with the Fireside Readers in Red Deer Canada. Our first book is 'Black Diamonds' the true story of the Fitzwilliam family of
Wentworth House in Yorksh ire, one of the wealthiest aristocratic families in England in the
early 20th century. It’s the story of how the family’s lives were intimately
connected with the coal mines they owned & the miners they employed.
In October we'll be discussing a Canadian novel, 'When the Falls Stood Still' by Cathy Marie Buchanan. A story of love, social change, and the coming of hydro-electricity. For more information about the Anglo-Canadian enterprise see our page Transatlantic Red Deers
