Formed in 1997, Red Deer Readers have met every month since then to indulge themselves in talking about books. Forget polite chatter, Red Deer Readers are passionate, opinionated and forthright. There are no right or wrong opinions so all views are welcome
We've appeared on BBC1 tv with Jeremy Vine, and on Radio Four's Bookclub, as well as having a live discussion on BBC Radio Sheffield. We've been interviewed and profiled in local and national newspapers - and one of us has appeared on a reality show on ITV1.
We're aged from 20-something to 80-something, men and women, working in health, education, business, charities, etc. Two of our members are married to each other. Some of us have been members from the beginning, others for only a few months.
Our website is the place to find out what we're reading, what we've read in the past, and more about us and the books we love and hate.
We have our favourites and the books we love to hate.
Recently we've made links with a group of readers in the town of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. See our new page Transatlantic Red Deers for details of an exciting development.
